Amy + Shaune’s wedding

Lot Four Studio, Richmond

When Amy + Shaune came to our warehouse to meet the furniture (and me one hopes!), I was immediately heavily in like with the pair of them. They’re the type of people that knock your socks off with their good looks and perfect Rockabilly slash Kustom Kulture get up. They’re also warm, funny lots of fun and clearly smitten with one another #awwwwwwww.

While we love to help couples devise what vintage furniture and decor to hire from us, it’s also really fun when a couple has a very strong sense of their style and what they want for their wedding, because then we can work up something fabulous together, lickety split! Amy + Shaune are definitely in the latter category – they knew their style and thus what they wanted to hire, so showing them around the warehouse was a super fun activity, where we chose classic pieces with lots of character, in browns, beige, green, gold and copper.

Ceremony

Making the most of a lovely Autumn day in Melbourne, Amy and Shaune had a delightful garden ceremony in Burnley Gardens, in Melbourne’s inner east. We just love garden ceremonies – and there really is no shortage of beautiful spots to choose from in Melbourne. The couple chose gorgeous, funny lady Marry Me Dee to get them married, and they had lots of gorgeous vintage touches for their ceremony including Amy and her sister arriving in a vintage car, sweet vintage furniture via us, and beautiful old school florals.

Not to mention the outfits of the bride and groom and their attendants! Shaune’s two little sons are miny hims (is that a term!?), and they are just the cutest! But I think what I love most from the photos of the ceremony is the looks on everyone’s faces. SO. MUCH. LOVE.

And a bit of fun and silliness too! Weddings are often really moving, but it’s great to get some laughs in there too, like these two did!

Reception

Taking the reins and transforming blank canvas warehouse venue, Lot Four Studio (also in Burnley), Amy and Shaune created a glam vintage party to celebrate their wedding and marriage. Using a mix of vinyl, velvet, timber and crystal, they created an old world lux vibe, but which also felt relaxed and fun, for them and their guests.

How great do those vintage awning inspired wall hangings look? Genius, Amy! And the beautiful crystal and drink ware on the bar, provided by our mates over at Betty May Vintage Hire really added that ye olde world charm.

Amy added some of her own lamps to bring lots of extra personal touches to what they created, as well as doing the smart reusing thing – in having us transport the ceremony arch to the reception so people could get photos under it. It’s such an excellent idea to double up with decor items, and reuse them in both your ceremony and reception if at all possible.

For example, if you’re marrying in the same place as your reception, can you use your ceremony backdrop as the DJ booth or band area? Can your ceremony flowers become reception flowers? Ceremony seating becoming dining seating? So many great options to use things more than once, and hopefully save yourself some dollars!

Congrats!

Our congratulations to the excellent, wonderful gorgeous couple Amy + Shaune – you really know how to throw a party, so you can come and sit with us!
